FBI's confirms JP Morgan Preliminary Probe
FBI Director Robert Mueller on Wednesday confirmed that the agency has opened a "preliminary investigation" into JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), the nation's largest bank. JPMorgan disclosed last week that it had suffered a multibillion-dollar trading loss due to a failed hedging strategy. A person familiar with the matter said on Tuesday that the FBI's New York office has opened a preliminary probe into the loss, which has been estimated at more than $2 billion. The wife of the campaign aide who claimed paternity for former presidential candidate John Edwards' baby cried on the witness stand on Monday as she recalled why she let her husband say he was the father of someone else's child. Cheri Young said Edwards, a former U.S. senator who was seeking the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, explained that the arrangement was necessary both to keep his campaign alive and to prevent his cancer-stricken wife, Elizabeth, from finding out about the affair. ![]()
BP Engineer Arrested In Connection With The Oil Spill 2 Years Ago
Former BP engineer Kurt Mix faces two counts of obstruction of justice on suspicion of deleting text messages about the oil flow rate after the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The Justice Department on Tuesday unveiled the first criminal charges in its investigation of the 2010 BP oil spill: two counts of obstruction of justice filed against a former BP engineer accused of destroying records describing the rate at which oil was flowing from the broken well at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. ![]()
